I've been lucky enough to be playing games right from Windows 95 through to Windows 7 to PlayStation 3. However, there are some games that I've had the urge to revisit thanks to their in-game music when getting the music wasn't easy. I owe it these games for introducing me to my varying taste in music and bands/artists I thought I would never listen to. They've a special place and status in my heart!
So without any further ado, here's to my Top Video Game Music.
So without any further ado, here's to my Top Video Game Music.
Game: Need For Speed 2 - Special Edition
Artist: Rom Di Prisco | Song: Romulus 3
The song makes an awesome chill out track & fits the menu of the game perfectly. Makes you spend more time on the menu than playing the game itself.
Game: FIFA 98 - Road To The World Cup
Artist: Crystal Method | Song: More
Although there were more songs by Crystal Method to this gem of a game, this song has the perfect game feeling & fits the video game menu like a charm.
Game: Pocket Tanks
Artist: DNA Groove | Song: Fabric In Time
The list that is never complete would be incomplete without mentioning Pocket Tanks. A simple & addictive game with a groovy chill out music!
Game: Dirt 2
Artist: The Stone Roses | Song: This Is The One
There are quite a few noteworthy songs in this game. But I had to go with this due to the classic reverberated feel of the song. Blends well into the game!
Game: Little Big Planet
Artist: Matt Clark & Kenneth Young | Song: Gardens Theme
This one is definitely on the list. When you start playing this beautiful game, the music just carries you away to the land of dreams. Pure bliss!
Game: Classic Doom
Artist: Richard Craig (Originally, Robert Prince) | Song: Sign Of Evil (Remix)
The last level of Classic Doom, Episode 1. The inevitable ending.I've intentionally added this ambient remix to the original MIDI version. The music here is dark and gloomy while the tune is purely sublime. It fits the level perfectly! It almost feels like the founders of Unitology are welcoming Isaac Clark to Necromorph transcendence.
Game: Rayman Jungle Run
Artist: Christopher Heral & Billy Martin | Song: Ole
This is an awesome platformer for mobile devices. It's full of short jingles on a repeat without loosing luster. The music in-game has high production values like none other I've come across for mobile phones. I latched a liking to this particular jingle because it's funny and accompanies some of the easy-go-lucky levels perfectly.
